A Festival of Cutting Edge Performance

Returning to the Pearce Institute for the third time in January, Into the New is the festival for the (BA Hons) Contemporary Performance Practice programme. Exploring radical practices and identity from intimate one to ones to immersive live art; this year’s festival is set to be one of the most dynamic, thought provoking and challenging yet.

Over the four years students are engaged in a transformative programme which explores ways in which human beings make art in order to better understand the world. Expect provocative ideas, radical silences and beautiful chaos from a vibrant group of Scotland’s most exciting emerging artists. This year’s festival will open with a student-led symposium featuring invited artists, activists and educators responding to the theme of radical practices.

The artists this year dig deep into the details of their most intimate domestic relationships, navigate todays political landscapes and grapple with the vast realms of fantasy, spirituality and personal mythology. We invite you to experience each performance as its own act of radicalism.

The Into the New festival culminates in a late-night performance party with live music, performance, dancing and DJ’s. A playful interrogation of sleepless city living and how the 9-5 working day drives the 11-3 party scene.
